Porlock and Hunter's Rest
Porlock, situated within the Exmoor National Park, is surrounded on three sides by the heather clad moors of Exmoor and their beautiful wooded valleys. To the North, beyond a shingle ridge, lies the Bristol Channel.
The village has all the amenities you could wish for with pubs, restaurants, a butchers, bakers, convenience stores, post office and plenty of other shops.
Hawkcombe is a wooded combe which stretches from Porlock to Hawkcombe Head on the moor.
Mill Lane, which gets its name from the water mill by the stream at the bottom of the lane, leads up the side of Hawkcombe and Hunter's Rest can can be found at the top of this lane.
From Hunter's Rest, a bridle path continues on up through woodland providing direct access to wonderful woodland and moorland walks.

M5 - Junction 23 (Bridgwater), A39 to Porlock
M5 - Junction 25 (Taunton), A358 to Williton, A39 to Porlock
Nearest mainline train station is Taunton. Then get a bus to Porlock (changing buses at Minehead).
Nearest airports are Bristol and Exeter.
On entering the village on the A39, follow the High Street into the centre until you see the Church of St. Dubricius. Turn into Parsons Street and pass the entrance to the Recreation Ground on your left. Keep an eye open for the water mill on your right (if you reach a fork in the road you have gone much too far). Immediately in front of the water mill is the start of Mill Lane. Follow Mill Lane to the top (ignore the tracks off to the right and left) until the lane ends and you will find Hunters Rest in front of you.
